PROFILE
The Department of Economics commenced its functioning in 1955 as a combined Department of Economics and History. The Department offers a three year Bachelor’s Degree programme and two year Master's degree programme in Economics. B.A Degree course in Economics was the first Under Graduate course of the college and was started in 1955. The Department was elevated to a Post Graduate department in 1984. An ideal balance is struck between curricular and extra- curricular activities so as to produce intellectually well trained, morally upright, socially committed and spiritually inspired young men and women. Till now 68 batches of Under Graduate and 38 batches of Post Graduate students have passed out from the Department. Many of them hold responsible and lucrative positions in India and abroad. Students are provided opportunities for their development both through academic and co-curricular activities. Active support and interaction by the faculty is the part and parcel of all activities.
