St. Thomas College, Kozhencherrypractices both mentoring and tutorial for supportingour students. Students are divided into smaller groups of 10-20 members and entrusted under the care of a mentor. The mentor and the mentees meet in groups or one-to-one to facilitate the personal and professional development of the students. The mentor and the mentee collaborate to equip the latter to encounter the challenges and chalk out and accomplish his/her goals without violating the confidential nature of mentoring.
The Tutorial System envisages the overall development of the students. With the class teacher as the in-charge, the students are encouraged to develop their life skills and academic skills. One hour per week is set apart as the tutorial hour when the students are given training in life skills, and sound human values are imparted to them. The mentors or the class tutor or teacher will engage the hour. The system envisages imparting value education, life skills and academic enrichment.
