About Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW)

The Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW) was established in 1986 for organizing and co-coordinating appropriate student services in the University. In Mahatma Gandhi University, services are made an integral part of education.

These services are aimed at assisting in the students’ holistic development: Physical, Social, Emotional and Intellectual. They are necessary supplements to academic work to ensure the overall development of students.

The Directorate of Students’ Welfare has given unparalleled service to Student Welfare in the central part of Kerala, drawing on the great cultural traditions of the Country as well as keeping in tune with the changing times.

We shall continue to facilitate interactions between different student groups and promote understanding and mutual respect by encouraging participation in extracurricular activities.

The DSW manages the expenditure of Students’ Welfare Fund, facilitates Students’ Insurance, providing financial support to the students through provision of fellowships and scholarships to the students.

The office of the DSW organizes orientation to freshers through induction programmes and camps and aims at rooting out all social evils, especially the evil of ragging, from educational institutions under Mahatma Gandhi University.

We shall make our mission known in the state of Kerala as well as nationally and internationally.
